Senior Cell Leader

Major Recruitment are working in partnership with a prestigious aerospace manufacturer based in Darwen, the Ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience for the job in hand.

The Senior Cell Leader has responsibility for the day to day management of all cell employees, ensuring a high standard of Health & Safety within their working environment. With the ability to motivate Senior Cell Leaders ensure that all employees have the resources to enable them to be productive in the most efficient way, ensuring deadlines are met and standards are maintained. The Senior Cell Leader is the first point of escalation for team members, with the responsibility of resolving issues in a timely and effective manner. Senior Cell Leaders will be multi-skilled and have the ability to cover other cells as part of a cross-functional operation. Occasionally Senior Cell Leader will be required to perform operational job functions to get the job done; however their primary goal is to ensure the cell works effectively and in accordance with the production schedule.

• Responsible for three departments - cleanroom/ fitting/finishing

• Ensure that operators work to process in a timely manner

• Management of time and attendance

• Responsible for Operator training/upkeep of training matrices

• Management of KPI’s relative to production performance

• Manage incoming and external movement of materials : from shipping to sub-contract firms to receipt of lifted materials

• Manage and maintain the production schedule

• Quality driven and familiar with Quality procedures : Rolls Royce SABRE knowledge an advantage

• Run current SQCDP process and implement 5S principles

• Aerospace and Composite background advantageous

Management and leadership
• Day-to-day team management

• Team engagement through communication and initiatives

• Regular communication of the Company vision

• Training and development of team members

• Observational skills assessment and recording

• Management and maintenance of skills matrices

• Maintenance of training records

• Rotation of team members to ensure cross-functional capability.

• Carry out annual appraisals linking personal development plans to training & development.

Operational output

• Prepare and execute Corrective Action Reports

• Ensure all operatives have the necessary materials and equipment to do their job

• Monitor and improve cell performance

• Regular and accurate data recording
Financial control

• Delivery and implement Lean CI improvements in areas such as Margin, Labour and waste.

• Effectively manage holidays, overtime and shift allowances to reduce operational costs

• Cost control, ensuring adherence to budget

• Cost control, ensuring budgets are adhered to.

• Updating of daily boards with financial data
Facilities, Lean CI and Health, Safety and Environment

• Develop and manage Lean CI (Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvements) local initiatives in support of the Lean CI Group strategy and central Lean CI team.

• Manage the daily SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People) reviews and performance monitoring system to ensure effective close out of identified actions and escalation of issues.

• Ensure a 6’s walk round is completed weekly and that any identified improvements are actioned in your area of responsibility

• Carry out daily and weekly safety walks, to ensure section is safe and fit for purpose prior to shift start

• Monitoring of the TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) system and ensure machinery maintenance / safety issues are acted upon

• Completion of relevant health and safety reporting

• Ensure daily OHSE Index checks are carried out by OHSE Champions and liaise with the central OHSE team on issues and initiatives relating to OHSE.

• Uphold safe working practices and processes that assure the effective occupational health, safety and environmental as defined by the OHSE management system.

• Ensure adequate PPE is made available, used and stored correctly.

Quality management
• Ensure operators, plant and equipment comply with processes at all times

• Monitor process non-conformance within their cell

• Ensure cell accountability and responsibility for cell non-conformance on a daily basis

• Support Material Review Boards (MRB) and Corrective Action Request (CAR) events as scheduled.

• Facilitate Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action responses within the cell.

• Facilitate disruption resolution through SQCDP activities

• Escalate appropriately SQCDP issues that cannot be resolved at Cell Level.

• Facilitate self-audit of cell to support QA activities

• Ensure the implementation of corrective actions and improvement initiatives applicable to the cell.

• Ensure cell maintains all required records and transactional integrity
